We have a new exciting opportunity for a Senior Data Scientist who will directly contribute to a new project focusing on AI-powered innovation to help utilities strengthen wildfire prevention efforts. You will develop highly accurate, fast fault detection technology designed for grid-edge implementation on utility distribution lines.Your Responsibilities Will Include But Are Not Limited ToDriving the research and development of state-of-the-art data-science algorithms involving advanced Digital Signal Processing and Machine Learning techniques – including Deep LearningValidating and commercialising AI and machine learning solutions leading to successful delivery to Eaton businessesAnalysing high-resolution waveform data using spectral analysis techniquesDriving the research and development of high-quality, labelled datasets to support algorithm development – including the design of experimentsDocumenting and demonstrating solutions by using flowcharts, diagrams, code comments, code snippets, and performance instrumentsEnsuring that functionality is usable, reusable, and extensible for data scientists across the enterpriseQualificationsMinimum of a Master’s Degree or higher in computer science, computer engineering, electronic engineering, or similar5+ years involvement in the application of data science to solve real-world problems or 2 years+ following a PHD DegreeKnowledge and experience creating practical signal processing and machine learning solutions for power systems, specifically related to time-series signal processing of electrical sensor measurementHighly skilled in the analysis of high-resolution waveform data using a wide range of analysisExtensive practical experience across multiple projects of developing algorithms involving state-or-the-art AI techniques, including digital signal processing, and machine learning – including deep learningPython, Matlab or Simulink expertise is a mustExtensive awareness of data quality issues and practical experience of data cleaningBroad-based expertise in the IoT, Cyber-physical systems and edge computingExperience in optimising code, identifying bottlenecks, and maximising performance on constrained hardwareSkillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively explain technical concepts and solutionsHigh comfort engaging with academic literatureWhat We OfferCompetitive compensation and benefits package including Pension, Health Insurance, Wellness scheme, and moreChallenging projects in a dynamic, collaborative teamWe make your aspirations matter – Eaton encourages internal promotion whenever possibleWe make your growth matter – We invest in our employees for the long term – not just with salary and benefits, but with ongoing learning and development opportunities made available through Eaton UniversityWe are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for job applicants and employees.
