Overview

Role Overview: We are currently seeking an energetic and highly motivated individual to join our team in our Shannon, Ireland production facility as a Quality Officer. The Quality Officer position provides support to the company\'s production in upholding the integrity of key management systems for quality, food safety, and other related regulatory and compliance programs. This position will have the responsibility of making critical decisions regarding these various management systems and their respective certifications with a focus on continuous improvement across all aspects of the production process.


Responsibilities

* Maintain knowledge of the company\'s extrusion and production processes to effectively develop and maintain management systems and relevant compliance programs.
* Lead plant operations to meet required quality and safety standards; cross-function between multiple departments.
* Collect production samples for analysis, maintain records regarding color, thickness of material, and defects; perform root cause analysis on manufacturing quality events; serve as primary author of deviation reports.
* Work with customers and suppliers to meet standard requirements; provide quality & food safety related documentation to satisfy certification and regulatory requirements.
* Communicate effectively with management on customer-related quality and food safety concerns.
* Establish and maintain safe and healthy working conditions; implement activities, policies and programs to reduce or eliminate health hazards.
* Attend Leadership and facilitate Team meetings and contribute insights and address concerns across the operation.
* Coordinate and maintain periodic 5S or similar safety walks to monitor basic operating essentials and identify hazards; provide records and reporting.
* Coordinate quality and safety training with Production Management; conduct food safety training for core employees and temporary workers.
* Assist staff with information regarding product quality, legality, and facility hygiene.
* Ensure Health and Safety of the facility and the people within it; maintain Health and Safety Manuals and conduct risk analysis as the onsite safety officer.
* Ensure equipment used for quality assurance is calibrated in a timely manner and records are maintained.
* Follow and enforce all company guidelines and procedures for management systems.
* Compliance: coordinate required audits; lead preparation and readiness activities with plant management.
* Ensure the facility\'s operations meet ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and FSSC 22000 standards.
* Provide necessary product and material information to external parties, including customers, while ensuring confidentiality where required.
* Manage integrated Quality & Environmental management systems and their requirements; manage non-conformance findings.
* Liaise with Lead Auditors for audits and support smooth audit processes; additional duties as assigned for the operation\'s good.


Qualifications

* Education/Experience: Bachelor\'s degree in a related field plus 2 years of related experience OR at least 4 years of related experience. Experience with audits is preferred; supervisory or team-building experience is a plus.
* Knowledge: Strong understanding of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and FSSC 22000 standards and related management systems.
* Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software applications.
* Key skills and attributes: excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, documentation control, strong written and verbal communication, project management, diplomacy under pressure, initiative for continuous improvement, cross-functional collaboration, risk thinking, and openness to feedback.
