Your Role:
As a Speech Therapist, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with communication and swallowing disorders. Your work will play a critical role in improving the health, well-being, and quality of life of patients within our acute hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct comprehensive assessments for patients with communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing difficulties.
* Manage a caseload of elderly patients with neurological conditions, including stroke, brain injury, and progressive neurological diseases.
* Deliver evidence-based interventions to patients with dysphagia, ensuring best practice in assessment and management.
* Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team (MDT), including medical, nursing, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy teams, to provide holistic patient care.
* Provide education and training to hospital staff, patients, and families on communication and swallowing strategies.
* Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in ongoing clinical audits and service development.
* Engage in clinical supervision and continuous professional development (CPD) to ensure the highest standard of care.
Requirements:
* CORU registration (or eligibility) as a Speech & Language Therapist.
* Dysphagia qualification and experience in an acute setting.
* Experience working with neurological conditions, stroke rehabilitation, and orthopaedics.
* Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
