Power Systems Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Power Systems Engineer to join our client, a leading project management and consultancy firm operating in multiple sectors including pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, chemical, medical devices, waste treatment, and food and beverage.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and create high-voltage (HV) topology systems, including sub-station design, air-insulated switchgear, gas-insulated switchgear, earthing requirements, lightning protection, overhead busbar sizing, breaker sizing, and HV cable sizing.
* Discuss the pros and cons of various design approaches, including fixed/withdraw switchgear (medium voltage), remote-controlled switchgear, primary/secondary switchgear, and underground MV/HV routes.
* Interact with utilities and design underground draw pits, including cable take-off containment for medium voltage sides of transformers.
* Design transformer compounds, including secondary side design and creation of bills of quantities (BOQs).
* Develop client control room designs, incorporating protection panel design, uninterruptible power supply (UPS), remote control systems, and low-voltage feed panels for transformer fans.
* Understand typical data centre power requirements and design gas plant systems, including gas generator sizing.
* Prepare single-line diagrams for MV/HV systems and liaise with project managers to update new projects and scopes.
* Create basis of designs and estimates for all new projects.
Key Requirements:
* Minimum 5 years of experience as a power systems engineer, covering the responsibilities listed above.
* Excellent communication skills and a full Irish driving license.
* Proficiency in software such as Dialux, Amtech (Trimble), ETAP, ERACS, CDEGS, and ability to provide training to others.
* Fluency in English and eligibility to work in Ireland.
