Overview:

ShoutOut is a registered charity committed to improving life for LGBTQI+ people by sharing personal stories and providing educational programmes. We work with school students, teachers, youth workers, social workers, higher education institutions, sporting bodies, NGOs, workplaces, and other organisations on LGBTQI+ issues.

ShoutOut started in 2012 as a group of friends who wanted to make a difference in their community. Purpose of this Role:

The LGBTQ+ Policy and Events Coordinator (Education) will:

* Assist in researching and co-developing a government policy proposal on embedding LGBTQI+ mental health supports in schools.
* Support the planning and delivery of a national event for teachers, school leaders, and education professionals to disseminate findings from the HeadStart Fund and raise awareness of best practice supports for LGBTQI+ youth.

Key Role & Responsibilities:

* Policy & Research
* Work alongside the Education Manager to contribute to the development of a policy proposal on LGBTQI+ youth mental health supports in schools.
* Assist in gathering data, surveys, and feedback from schools, educators, and students.
* Support the development and writing of policy guidance and mental health support tools for schools.
* National Awareness & Event Coordination
* Support planning and delivery of a national dissemination event for teachers, school leaders, and education professionals.
* Assist in designing informative resources and presentations to highlight the impact of ShoutOut's work in schools.
* Contribute to external communications, including sharing learnings, case studies, and best practices.
* Stakeholder Engagement
* Engage with schools, youth organisations, and stakeholders to promote participation in workshops and project activities.
* Assist with compiling evidence, youth voices, and best practice materials to support resource development.
* Represent ShoutOut at relevant meetings, events, and conferences where appropriate.

Essential Criteria / Competencies:

* 2 years of experience in a relevant sector (LGBTQI+ education, mental health, etc.)
* Must be able to carry out the responsibilities outlined above while working independently, confidently and as part of a small, creative, fast-paced team.
* Experience in youth work, education, advocacy, or community programme delivery.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work efficiently with a wide range of partners.
* Careful attention to detail.
* Strong organisational skills, multitasking, and decision-making abilities.
* Excellent digital literacy, with a high level of proficiency in G Suite.
* Comfortable delivering presentations to groups.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience gathering feedback or simple data to support impact measurement.
* Demonstrated commitment to equality, inclusion, and empowering young people.
* Understanding of LGBTQI+ issues, youth mental health, and inclusive education.

Desirable Criteria / Competencies

* Experience working in schools or educational settings.
* Familiarity with Irish education or youth mental health policy.
* Experience supporting policy development or advocacy initiatives.
* Experience coordinating events or contributing to public awareness campaigns.
* Experience working with volunteers.
* Experience working with Salesforce or a similar CRM.
* Full clean driver's licence and access to a vehicle. Experience in working in the youth/education sector or engaging with young audiences.
* An understanding of intersectional perspectives and an awareness of the need to communicate in an inclusive and accessible manner to diverse audiences.

Practical arrangements:

Hours & place of work

This role is full-time, 35 hours per week. There will be some evening and weekend work required at times, compensated through a TOIL system.

ShoutOut's office is located in Dublin city centre. Travel within Dublin and Ireland is required for workshop delivery, meetings, and programme roll-out. ShoutOut follow a hybrid working model; staff are encouraged to attend the office 1-2 days per week, depending on calendars, for collaborative work but have the option to work from home when not required to deliver workshops or attend meetings in person. These arrangements are flexible and agreed between team members.

Holidays

25 days p/annum pro rata.
