Job Purpose
Medical Technologies Department plays a significant role in achieving the overall Life Science Division, and IDA organisational targets. The Medical Technologies sector is predominately regionally based and drives strong linkages between multinational companies and indigenous enterprises, via spinouts, collaborations and global sourcing. Because of the regulated nature of the industry, these investments have long term sustainability and high regional impact and spill over. Furthermore, a large proportion of medical technology investments are in areas of high value manufacturing, with significant capital expenditure and are among the highest rates of investment in R&D of any IDA sector. The Mid-West territory comprises a significant number of client companies with over 40 sites and over 20,000 jobs (40% of MedTech jobs) in the portfolio. High profile strategic clients include Abbott, Medtronic, Stryker, Zimmer along with other important regional clients such as Cook Medical, Hollister, Integer, Jabil, McKesson, Phillips Medisize, and Zeus. The Mid-West Territory team has a strong pipeline and momentum built for H2 2026 and into 2027. The team focus is on managing the existing portfolio of investments and delivering against New Name, Expansion, RDI, Training/Digitisation and sustainability targets, with a continued emphasis on regional locations. The role also includes delivering against the Client Development Programme.
Key Tasks
The management of a portfolio of existing clients to identify and win Expansion, and Transformation investments across R&D, Sustainability and Training that address the client development and transformation needs and deliver the Department targets.
Support the targeting of new name investments from the territory including supporting inquiries; setup and management of site visits; providing timely, follow up information.
The evaluation, preparation and presentation of investment proposals to the IDA Ireland MIC, Board and internal Committees for all investment categories.
Engage with the Client Transformation team to understand and apply new targeted supports and initiatives that will drive sustainable change and strengthen long‑term investment.
The preparation and presentation of Frameworks and Updates to the Client Development Committee.
Actively managing the pipeline on Salesforce CRM by maintaining and updating information on opportunities with existing companies, target companies and department contacts.
Working with the wider MedTech team to research and develop new sectoral and sub‑sectoral strategies (including target lists) that will lead to the growth of the Department’s portfolio.
Leading and contributing to the development of new value propositions for MedTech sub‑sectors and contributing to the development of new and refreshed marketing materials & presentations.
Supporting executives in Ireland and/or overseas in planning and running of industry networking events and/or attendance/exhibition/representing IDA at conferences.
Capturing and sharing relevant marketplace sectoral intelligence with the global team to ensure the continuous strengthening of the sectoral strategy of winning new investment opportunities for Ireland.
Collaborating and proactively work on key new initiatives to assist in the continued growth of the MedTech sector in Ireland.

Third level qualification, to a minimum Level 8 on the National Qualification Framework is essential
A full driving licence is essential

Aspects of this role will require travel and working outside of normal office hours
Ongoing flexibility and interest in international career progression and development is required.
Salary Scale
€52,546 to €75,472 per annum contributory superannuation.
Rising by long service increments to €77,286 (after 3 years satisfactory service at the maximum of the range).
