Position – Commercial Underwriter
Key responsibilities:
* Underwriting of Renewal Policies and Processing Renewal documentation inline with underwriting authority
* Quotation and Binding of New Business inline with underwriting authority
* Interaction with our Broker Network in a courteous and professional manner
* Assist in training and development of Junior commercial underwriting staff.
* Adherence to the prevailing risk appetite asset down by the board.
* Assist in achieving annual income growth as provided by the board.
* Assist in managing loss ratio performance in tandem with growth to acceptable levels of our Capital Providers
* Accompany the Commercial Manager or Sales Manager on pre-agreed broker visits to widen broker support or solidify existing relationships.
* Assist in ensuring departmental consistency in how to deal with supporting brokers.
* While providing terms to ensure adherence to the Binder of any given Capital Provider regarding risk acceptance, sums insured and rates charged.
* While dealing with brokers, adherence to compliance with the CPC and its updates along with any other directives from the regulator, EU directives or other Government agencies relative to the commercial department
* Adhere to company policy in regard advertising, product awareness and customer service.
* Follow directives as provided by the Board or Commercial Manager in connection with the running, strategy and direction of the Commercial Department.
* Ensure service levels of KennCo are kept up to standard, to include document flow, account queries, complaints, referrals etc.
* Best practice from a department efficiency and service viewpoint
* Assistance in sales analysis
* Assistance in rating feedback on own and market products
* Assistance in Product Development, wordings and pricing when directed to
* Assist with insurance audit in conjunction with the Compliance Department
* Other duties and responsibilities as may be required by the Board / Directors/Management.
Key Requirements; Experience, Qualifications and Skills:
* At least 5 years of experience in the Insurance Industry.
* Minimum APA commercial qualification is required however CIP is desired.
* Strong team player with ability to build relationships within the team.
* Excellent communication skills - both written and oral
* Commitment to continuous improvement of quality and efficiency
* Effective time management and organisational skills
* Ability to work under pressure and on own initiative.
* Strong Microsoft Office Skills
