Overview
The OT Remediation Engineer is responsible for executing Operations Technology (OT) remediation activities to reduce cyber risk and maintain the integrity, availability, and security of Digital Realty’s OT environments. This role delivers firmware updates, device replacements, and configuration changes across OT assets in accordance with approved remediation plans, change management controls, and security standards. The position works closely with the OT Remediation Project Manager, regional operations teams, IT security partners, and approved vendors.
Responsibilities
Execute OT remediation initiatives, including firmware updates, device refreshes, and replacements, to address identified vulnerabilities and security gaps.
Implement remediation activities in strict alignment with approved change records, methods of procedure (MOPs), and operational risk controls.
Coordinate remediation scope, schedules, and site readiness with the OT Remediation Project Manager and local operations teams.
Perform remote remediation activities using approved web-based and workstation-based tools provided by Operations Systems Support.
Create, update, and maintain remediation work orders, evidence, and execution records in MCIM, ServiceNow, and related systems.
Develop, review, and maintain remediation-specific MOPs, work instructions, and rollback procedures.
Validate remediation outcomes and document residual risk, execution issues, and exceptions encountered during implementation.
Interface with local OT vendors to ensure remediation tasks are executed in compliance with Digital Realty security and documentation standards.
Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure vulnerability scans, compliance data, and asset inventories accurately reflect deployed OT systems.
Support ongoing remediation planning by monitoring cybersecurity advisories and vendor releases impacting OT platforms.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, industrial engineering, computer science, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
Hands-on experience supporting OT systems within data center or other mission-critical environments.
Demonstrated experience remediating OT platforms such as BMS, DCIM, EPMS, PLCs, and associated field devices.
Familiarity with OT communication protocols including Modbus, BACnet, SNMP, and web services.
Working knowledge of OT cybersecurity risks, vulnerabilities, and remediation strategies.
Strong ability to analyze remediation plans, technical documentation, and risk impacts.
Proven capability managing multiple concurrent remediation efforts across sites or regions.
Solid IT platform and network fundamentals, with the ability to collaborate effectively with IT and security teams.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Project, Visio, and project tracking tools such as MS Project or Smartsheet.
Basic knowledge of common communication protocols like Modbus, BACnet, MQTT, SNMP, and Web Services.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to engage with colleagues and customers.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize job requirements.
