Job Title: Domestic Transport Planner

The Role
As a Domestic Transport Planner, you will play a crucial part in planning and coordinating fleet operations across Ireland.
* Plan and schedule daily domestic transport routes for a busy fleet.
* Assign workloads to drivers while ensuring compliance with working time and tachograph regulations.
* Communicate effectively with drivers, warehouse staff, and customers.
* Monitor transport activity in real-time and address any delays or issues.
* Update the Transport Management System and maintain all associated records.
Key Responsibilities
Transport Planning and Scheduling
You will be responsible for planning and scheduling daily domestic transport routes for our busy fleet. This involves:
* Ongoing route optimisation to ensure efficient use of resources.
* Managing driver schedules and allocating workloads to meet customer demands.
* Coordinating with warehouse staff and drivers to ensure smooth logistics operations.
Compliance and Risk Management
You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with transport regulations, including:
* Working time and tachograph regulations.
* Health and Safety guidelines.
Communication and Customer Service
Your excellent communication skills will enable you to build strong relationships with drivers, warehouse staff, and customers. You will be responsible for:
* Effective communication of schedules, route changes, and other relevant information.
* Providing timely responses to customer inquiries and resolving any issues promptly.
Tech-Savviness and Continuous Improvement
We are looking for someone who is proficient with TMS and MS Office (Excel in particular) and can drive continuous improvement in routing and fleet utilisation. Some key responsibilities include:
* Maintaining accurate records and updating the Transport Management System.
* Identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing change.
Candidate Profile
To be successful in this role, you should have:
* A minimum 2-3 years of experience in transport planning or coordination.
* A strong working knowledge of Irish geography and road networks.
* Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
* The ability to thrive under pressure in a time-sensitive environment.
* Proficiency with TMS and MS Office (Excel in particular).
* A CPC qualification and knowledge of transport legislation are a distinct advantage.
