The Role
The Environmental Regulation & Scientific Services function is responsible for setting and managing environmental governance within Uisce Éireann; providing scientific services to demonstrate regulatory compliance and to assist in informed operational and investment decisions; and managing the strategic relationship with the EPA, HSE, and IFI regarding environmental and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the HQ Wastewater Compliance Manager, support the provision of quality sampling processes (all quality monitoring and analysis) for Wastewater Services in line with statutory and operational requirements; compile compliance reports and assist in developing system solutions to meet compliance monitoring and reporting requirements.
Support the development and maintenance of National Sampling Plans.
Track delivery of the National Sampling Plan and liaise with Regional Teams to facilitate decision making.
Liaise with the Compliance team to identify specific system development requirements.
Assist in the development and maintenance of advanced data analysis solutions to facilitate compliance data management and reporting requirements.
Review compliance monitoring data, incidents, investigations, EPA files and complaint data; undertake trend analysis, reporting, and liaison to facilitate follow-up activities.
Review the performance of existing data analysis and reporting systems; identify and implement improvements.
Provide regular progress updates to the HQ Wastewater Compliance Manager.
Contribute to achieving the objectives and targets of the Environmental Regulation Team Plan and the Uisce Éireann Business Plan.
Generate outputs in the form of reports, instructions, templates, standard operating procedures, etc., in standardized and consistent formats that convey data and decisions systematically.
Ensure systems capture and align with emerging business needs; provide information and direction to stakeholders based on generated outputs.
Support the generation of national monthly compliance metrics, KPIs, and statistics.
Provide information and data in high-quality formats to other functions and departments as required to support their needs.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Collaborate with key internal stakeholders across the UÉ business.
Promote and deliver health and safety commitments across UÉ and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives to the highest industry standards.
Support the delivery of the Uisce Éireann Transformation Programme, driving results within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives.
Conduct duties in accordance with Uisce Éireann's Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect confidentiality, integrity and availability of information, in line with the NIS Directive and other cybersecurity regulations.
Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Relevant third-level qualification and/or accreditation is desirable and/or relevant experience.
A minimum of 1 year's experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable.
Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Ability to analyse customer needs and provide support to resolve issues.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues and seek different perspectives.
Track record of striving for quality and delivering consistently high standards of work.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey messages clearly and concisely.
Ability to establish ongoing processes to collect and review information.
Track record of complying with safety objectives and policies and encouraging others to do the same.
