Resident Engineer – Airfield Taxiway Upgrade (Shannon Airport)We are seeking a proactive and experienced Resident Engineerto support the delivery of a significant airfield infrastructure upgrade at Shannon Airport. The project involves the demolition and reconstruction of a full‑depth taxiway (concrete and macadam), widening of the existing aircraft central apron, drainage enhancements, airfield lighting improvements, and related civil works.This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role on a high‑profile aviation project, working within a collaborative team environment and contributing to the successful delivery of a time‑critical programme.Contract Duration:7–8 months (with strong potential for follow‑on projects)Start Date:July 2026 (TBC)Previous Airport Experience:Preferable, but not essentialProvide day‑to‑day site supervision and act as the primary on‑site representative for the Client/Consultant.Oversee contractor activities to ensure full compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and programme requirements.Carry out inspections associated with pavement construction, drainage installation, airfield lighting infrastructure, and general civil works.Review and provide feedback on method statements, inspection and test plans, quality records, and technical submissions.Maintain comprehensive site documentation, including progress reports, inspection records, and issue logs.Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with airport operational requirements and safety protocols.Collaborate closely with the contractor, design team, and airport operational staff.Support project meetings, reporting cycles, and progress reviews.Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.3–5+ years’ experience in civil engineering construction supervision.Experience in pavement construction, concrete/macadam works, drainage, or utilities is highly desirable.Airport or airfield experience is advantageous, but not essential.Strong knowledge of construction quality standards and health & safety requirements.Excellent communication, reporting, and problem‑solving abilities.Capable of working effectively on a busy live site with multiple stakeholders.
