Overview
Security is at the heart of GitLab Ultimate, and Secret Detection is a key part of our customers’ journey to produce more secure software. As Senior Product Manager for Secret Detection you will own the capabilities that protect GitLab customers from leaking secrets. This high‑impact role combines security product development with the scale of GitLab’s global customer base.
Responsibilities
 * Own product strategy for Secret Detection and drive high‑visibility initiatives such as Secret Push Protection, Validity Checks, and advanced secret detection.
 * Ship product offerings that security professionals trust and developers love, delivering invisible protection that activates only when needed.
 * Work independently to shape product strategy while collaborating with experts across GitLab.
 * Coordinate with the Secret Detection engineering team, the Vulnerability Research team, and the broader Security Product Management team.
 * Use customer data, metrics, stories, and research to prioritize the highest‑impact work.
 * Represent GitLab at customer meetings, industry conferences, webinars, and public issue trackers.
 * Partner with Product Marketing and Field Enablement to equip field teams with knowledge and messaging about your product area.
Qualifications
 * Proven experience with Application Security products, ideally including Secret Detection.
 * Deep understanding of Application Security personas (developers, security engineers, leadership).
 * Multiple years of product management experience, preferably with enterprise software or security tools for development teams.
 * Track record of managing complex technical products from concept to market.
 * Experience working with large enterprise B2B customers and understanding their security, compliance, and operational needs.
 * Strong analytical skills and the ability to turn customer stories, usage data, and market research into actionable product decisions.
 * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, explaining complex security concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences.
 * Creative problem‑solving mindset with a balance of detailed execution and strategic thinking.
 * Familiarity with code to discuss detection trade‑off decisions and create simple demonstrations.
Bonus Qualifications
 * Knowledge of static analysis, program analysis, formal verification, or related security techniques.
 * Experience building AI‑powered features for security use cases.
Location & Remote Work
Remote – Global.
Salary Range (U.S. only)
$127,700 – $273,600 USD.
