Financial Accountant Role
The company is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join their team in Galway.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare timely and accurate monthly and annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS standards.
2. Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
3. Maintain the general ledger and ensure all transactions are properly recorded.
4. Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, providing insights to management and operational teams.
5. Collaborate with various departments across the business to track project costs, capital expenditures, and inventory valuation.
6. Monitor inventory accounting, including standard cost updates, variance analysis, and write-offs.
7. Manage fixed asset accounting, including capitalization and depreciation schedules.
8. Ensure tax compliance (VAT, corporate tax, transfer pricing) in collaboration with external advisors.
9. Manage external audits, providing detailed reconciliations and audit trails.
10. Contribute to process improvement and system enhancements within the finance function.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
2. Professional qualification: ACA/ACCA.
3. Minimum 1–2 years' post qualification experience in financial accounting, preferably within MedTech, medical devices, healthcare manufacturing, or pharmaceuticals.
4. Strong working knowledge of IFRS / US GAAP.
5. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
6. Proven experience in inventory accounting and cost of goods sold (COGS) analysis.
7. Experience in a regulated environment (e.g., FDA, ISO 13485, or MDR compliance).
8. Exposure to R&D project accounting or clinical trial cost management.
9. Understanding of transfer pricing and intercompany transactions.

This role involves managing the preparation and review of financial statements. A background in accounting, finance, or a related field, as well as relevant professional qualifications, is required. Previous experience in financial accounting within the specified sectors is preferred.
