We have a new and exciting opportunity for a Head of Claims to lead the function for NorthStandard EU DAC (NSEU, the Company).
Your role will be to oversee and direct all claims operations within the Company, ensuring the effective and efficient management of claims process, upholding NorthStandard's commitment to delivering superior service and maintaining the highest standards of integrity and compliance.
Please note that due to the regulatory requirements of this role, you would be required to be permanently based in Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
Functional leadership:
Oversee the claims process and performance of the Company, such that files are handled in a manner ensuring both quality of service to Members and cost effectiveness.
Monitor threats, risks, and opportunities across claims functions and continuously drive improvement.
Closely liaise with and support group business sectors (geographical and specialty) and enabling functions.
As required, assist colleagues in the development and implementation of claims functional guidelines, procedures and authority matrices.
Governance:
You will serve as a member of: the NSEU Executive Committee, Claims Leadership Team, the Claims Procedures and Rules Committee, Group Reserving Committee, Claims Management Forum and P&I, Specialty and FD&D claims meetings.
Data Analysis:
Direct and review comprehensive analysis of claims data to ensure alignment with the Company and Group claims strategy and objectives.
Reporting:
Provision of comprehensive claims reports to the Managing Director and Board of NorthStandard EU to enable them to assess the performance and development of the Companies' claims function.
Work with and report to the group Chief Claims Officer in accordance with claims procedures, with additional reporting as required to the Group Executive Leadership Team.
Relationship Management:
Foster strong relationships with members and brokers, effectively communicating the company and NorthStandard Group product offerings and value propositions.
Support marketing initiatives, collaborating with internal stakeholders to effectively communicate and promote offerings to brokers and members and support development of new business.
Operational Development:
Develop the claims and claims support operations and resources for the Company.
Exemplify the Club's Principles:
Demonstrate and model the NorthStandard Principles to deliver excellent performance and culture.
People Leadership:
Mentor and train an effective and high performing claims team in Ireland.
Regulatory:
Discharge your regulatory responsibilities as set out in the Statement of Responsibilities and associated Management Responsibilities Map.
Skills / Qualifications / Experience
Law degree, Legal Practice Course postgraduate legal qualification (or equivalent), 5 years PQE (or equivalent) preferred.
Demonstrable competence and experience, preferably in the mutual P&I or wider maritime industry, as well as an adherence to all applicable conduct standards.
Knowledge and understanding of P&I, FD&D and Specialty claims and the Company's insurance products, strategy, policies, procedures and resources.
Personable, enthusiastic and collaborative.
Able to manage relationships at different levels within the business and operate effectively with minimal supervision.
Excellent written and verbal communication with proven planning and organisational skills.
Experience preparing reports and presenting to Boards and committees.
