Job Purpose:
To manage and oversee the delivery of fire and security system contracts from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and company objectives. The role involves managing project teams, subcontractors, and client relationships to ensure timely, safe, and cost-effective delivery of services.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the full lifecycle of fire and security contracts, including planning, execution, and close-out.
* Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., PSA, BS EN 50131, NSI, BAFE).
* Liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure project requirements are met.
* Oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV, and access control systems.
* Monitor contract performance, budgets, and timelines.
* Conduct site visits and audits to ensure quality and safety standards are upheld.
* Manage subcontractors and ensure adherence to contractual obligations.
* Prepare and present progress reports to senior management and clients.
* Handle variations, change orders, and contract negotiations.
* Ensure health and safety compliance across all projects.
Qualifications:
* NVQ Level 3 or higher in Electrical Engineering, Fire & Security Systems, or a related field.
* SMSTS or SSSTS certification preferred.
* Relevant industry certifications (e.g. PSA, BAFE, ECS/CSCS card).
Experience:
* Minimum 8 years of experience in fire and security systems, with at least 2 years in a contract or project management role.
* Proven track record of managing multiple contracts simultaneously.
* Experience with both commercial and residential projects is advantageous.
Skills and Competencies:
* Strong technical knowledge of fire detection, alarm systems, CCTV, access control, and intruder alarms.
* Excellent project management and organizational skills.
* Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software.
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations and risk assessments.
Working Conditions:
* Office-based with regular travel to client sites.
* Occasional out-of-hours work may be required to meet project deadlines or attend emergency call-outs.
