Job Summary
The Child and Family Agency, established on 1st January 2014, is responsible for statutory functions including child protection, alternative care, regulatory services, and family support services. The agency is undergoing a major improvement program focusing on Practice, Culture, and Structure.
The agency manages a budget of approximately €1.2 billion and delivers services through over 5,500 staff across 259 locations nationwide.
The agency's responsibilities include:
* Child Protection and Welfare
* Parenting, Family Support, and Early Help Services
* Alternative Care
* Birth Information & Tracing and Adoption
* Tusla Education Support Services (TESS)
* Children’s Service Regulation
* Counselling and Therapeutic Supports
The role involves contributing to responses to child protection and welfare referrals involving domestic violence and abuse. The postholder will work closely with Tusla’s intake and family support services, including funded domestic violence services, to respond effectively to such referrals.
Job Objectives
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The postholder will:
* Provide one-to-one support to parents/guardians and children referred to Tusla for child protection and welfare, focusing on domestic violence concerns, including legal options and accessing specialist services.
* Participate in meetings such as strategy meetings, child protection conferences, safety planning meetings, Meitheals, and family support meetings, to review and implement response strategies.
* Assist parents/guardians and children in accessing additional support services like Family Resource Centres and funded family support services.
* Contribute to ongoing learning and improvements in the agency’s response to domestic violence, collaborating with social work, social care, and family support colleagues.
* Maintain case records in accordance with GDPR guidelines.
* Work alongside other agencies, including An Garda Síochána and HSE, as part of the response team.
* Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager.
Health & Safety
* Comply with policies, procedures, and legislation ensuring safe professional practice.
* Have knowledge of HIQA standards relevant to child protection and care, and adhere to related protocols.
* Support sustainable energy, water, and waste initiatives to promote a low-carbon, efficient health service.

Skills Requirements
Applicants must:
* Hold a minimum Level 7 qualification in social care, nursing, psychology, counselling, addiction studies, or community work.
* Have at least 3 years of post-qualification experience working within domestic violence services or services for children and families with domestic violence issues.
Health: Candidates must be capable of performing the duties and in good health to provide regular, efficient service.
Character: Candidates must be of good character.
