Reporting to the Head of Legal Affairs, Governance and Programme Delivery, the Corporate Governance Manager will play a key role in ensuring that the PSI operates to the highest standards of corporate governance, accountability, and transparency.
The role is responsible for supporting the effective functioning of the PSI Council and its Committees, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations, and contributing to the development and implementation of governance frameworks and policies that underpin the PSIs regulatory responsibilities.
Key duties of the role will include but are not limited to: Corporate Governance Oversee the development and implementation of PSIs corporate governance policies and procedures, in line with best practice and statutory requirements.
Monitor compliance with the Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies and other relevant legislation, such as the Human Rights and Equality Public Sector Duty, Official Languages Act and Accessibility legislation.
Manage the development and review of internal governance frameworks, including risk management, internal controls and ethical standards.
Promote a culture of good governance across the organisation through training, guidance, and awareness-raising activities.
Liaise with the Department of Health and other relevant bodies on governance matters.
Represent the PSI at external governance forums and working groups as required.
Provide governance input into cross-organisational projects and initiatives.
Lead the development and implementation of PSIs Corporate Strategy and Annual Service Plans.
Manage secretariat support provided to the PSI Council and its Committees, including follow-up on agreed actions.
Ensure effective governance processes are in place for Council appointments, induction, and performance evaluation.
Manage Council training and development days to address identified learning needs.
Risk and Assurance Act as the Chief Risk Officer and manage the PSIs risk management processes, including maintaining the corporate risk register and providing training and support to risk owners.
Report to the Registrar, Audit and Risk Committee and Council in relation to the management of risk in the organisation.
Liaise with internal auditors on the agreed schedule of internal audit and oversee the implementation of audit recommendations.
Responsible for the development and implementation of business continuity processes and procedures as well as annual testing.
Information Governance Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of PSIs information governance framework to ensure the secure and compliant management of data and information assets.
Manage compliance with relevant legislation and standards, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information (FOI) requirements.
Act as the Data Protection Officer (DPO) and support the organisation in managing data protection risks, breaches, and subject access requests.
Act as the organisations Freedom of Information Officer, ensuring that FOI requests are processed within statutory timeframes.
Ensure best practice in records management, data quality, and information security across the organisation.
Manage the development and delivery of staff training and awareness initiatives on information governance and data protection responsibilities.
Contribute to the governance of digital transformation initiatives, ensuring that data governance and privacy considerations are embedded in project planning and implementation.
Managerial Responsibilities Provide leadership and direction to staff within the Corporate Governance and Risk Management Team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Manage any assigned staff in accordance with PSI policies and procedures.
Oversee the planning and delivery of work programmes, ensuring alignment with PSIs strategic objectives and regulatory responsibilities.
Contribute to the development of team budgets and ensure effective resource planning and utilisation.
Represent the PSI externally and foster international collaboration by building strategic relationships within your area of responsibility.
General Regularly analyse current workflows to identify opportunities to improve.
Ensure standard business processes and procedures are documented and up to date.
Provide advice, guidance and training to colleagues and various stakeholders in your area of expertise.
Manage any assigned staff in accordance with PSI policies and procedures.
Share knowledge and learning with your team and wider organisation.
Promote and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, transformation, and innovation within PSI.
Identify risk and assist the organisation in achieving our purpose of mitigating regulatory risk in the interest of assuring the public that pharmacy care and services are safe.
Contribute to organisational projects, committees, and cross-functional initiatives that support the delivery of PSIs strategic objectives Proactively engage in performance development reviews and actively engage in opportunities for learning and development.
