Our client is a leading international Biotechnology company with a state of the art aseptic manufacturing facility in Dun Laoghaire, South Dublin.
The plant is one of the most dynamic in Ireland and is currently undergoing rapid expansion and capital investment.
This is an excellent opportunity to get experience into Ireland's leading aseptic manufacturing plant.
This is a hybrid position, requiring on-site presence for three days per week.
Attendance at Architect & Engineering (A&E) offices will also be required at certain design stages, and will count toward on-site days.
This job description is for an Electrical Engineer with previous relevant experience to provide client-side design input at the Basis of Design, Detailed Design, Commissioning, Qualification, and handover stages of a design project for a Fill/Finish Building to be located at the Facility, Pottery Road, DunLaoghaire.
The scope of the role also includes design input and support during project phases for various ancillary areas such as the existing Warehouse, a new -30°C Coldroom, Laboratory reconfigurations, and general site infrastructure, all collectively managed as part of the project.
The Electrical Engineer will also be expected to support Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) at vendor sites as needed throughout the project lifecycle.
Support client-side design team in all efforts related to the Facility Electrical Systems.
Coordinate client-side electrical design by liaising with Site SMEs and Engineering Technical Authority (ETA).
Lead and participate in client-side design reviews for electrical and power distribution systems.
Participate in cross-functional package, area, and project design teams in alignment with overall design goals.
Provide input into vendor selection and technical assessment processes related to electrical equipment and systems.
Review and contribute to electrical system drawings, URS, HDS, SDS, load schedules, single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, and electrical layouts.
Oversee the design and integration of power distribution, lighting, earthing, UPS systems, and emergency power installations.
Support commissioning and qualification activities related to electrical systems, including CMSATs, energization, and troubleshooting.
Provide technical support to Automation, Controls & Validation teams for equipment interfaces and electrical compliance.
Attend and contribute to Vendor FATs, SATs, C&Q activities, and validation testing, at vendor or site locations as required.
Manage and coordinate the electrical testing and inspection program, ensuring compliance with standards and applicable regulations.
Liaise with the Maintenance Group to support the integration of electrical assets into MAXIMO or other asset management systems.
Provide input and direction into schedule and cost management discussions to meet project objectives as defined by the Design Manager, Project Manager, and Steering Committee.
Maintain a strong on-site presence during construction, providing oversight and supervision of the electrical installation and ensuring design intent is met.
Requirements
Degree-level qualification in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering (or equivalent).
Professional certification or chartered status preferred but not required.
Minimum 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or regulated industrial design/build/start-up environments, with direct responsibility for electrical design and commissioning.
Proven experience delivering large-scale, complex electrical infrastructure projects in GMP environments.
Strong knowledge of electrical standards, codes, and best practices (e.g., IS, IEC, BS EN, NFPA).
Ability to challenge, defend, and present technical aspects of design decisions.
Demonstrated competence in contractor coordination, field installation supervision, and problem-solving.
Package
Contract role - Hourly rate €60 - €65 per hour
Minimum 12 month contract with the possibility of an extension.
These are projects that are going to run over for about the next two years.
Onsite Expectations: While we can be flexible with some onsite expectations, the project is now entering the construction phase, which means the role will increasingly require onsite presence.
Consequently, we need candidates who are willing and able to work onsite five days a week, as needed.
