Kerry Travellers Health & CDP are seeking a committed person for the post of part-time Community Development Worker hours per week) The purpose of the post is to build sustainable partnerships between the Traveller community in Kerry and the wider community using Human Rights Framework and a community Development Approach in line with the actions as identified in the Project's Work Plan.
Aim of the post -
* Work within the KTHCDP Community Development team and with the Traveller community to implement the KTHCDP strategic plan.
* Build and maintain relationship with the community members, local organisations and key stakeholders.
* Facilitate and support community participation in decision making process.
* Facilitate the emergence of local Traveller representatives and support their full participation on relevant initiatives and strategies that affect the Traveller community.
* Maintain strategic links with relevant agencies to ensure that the interests and issues affecting Travellers are on their agendas.
* Link with service providers to provide development and capacity building for local Traveller volunteers and groups.
* Promote awareness of community resources and services.
* Identify and source funding for local Traveller groups.
* Link with the national and regional Traveller organisations.
* Encourage and support the development of innovative community projects with the Traveller community, empowering local groups to manage them.
* Support the development of the KTCDP Wagon building programme.
* Support the development of the KTHCDP intergenerational traditional Traveller crafts programme.
* Advocate for the community in larger social and political context.
* Research and prepare material for submission to relevant publications on a regular basis and develop position papers on Traveller issues.

Pay: €24.22 per hour
