Role Overview
Noreside Engineering is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to take ownership of the company's financial operations and reporting. This role will work closely with senior management to provide accurate financial insight, ensure strong financial controls, and support decision-making across engineering projects and the wider business.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable operating in an SME environment, combining hands-on financial management with commercial awareness and the ability to improve processes as the business grows.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
* Prepare monthly management accounts, cashflow forecasts, and financial reports
* Monitor and report on project profitability, margins, and cost control
* Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
* Oversee balance sheet integrity, including WIP and accruals
Operational & Project Finance
* Work closely with engineering and project teams on project costing and financial tracking
* Review and improve job costing, invoicing, and revenue recognition processes
* Support pricing, tender analysis, and commercial decision-making
Cashflow & Controls
* Manage cashflow, working capital, and banking relationships
* Oversee accounts payable, receivable, payroll inputs, and credit control
* Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls and procedures
Compliance & External Stakeholders
* Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and tax advisors
* Ensure compliance with Irish tax, VAT, payroll, and statutory reporting requirements
* Support year-end accounts and audit process
Systems & Process Improvement
* Own and develop accounting systems and financial processes
* Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reporting quality, and financial visibility
* Support financial aspects of growth initiatives, new projects, or acquisitions
Skills & Experience
Essential
* Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or qualified by experience
* 5+ years' experience in a finance role, ideally within engineering, construction, or project-based businesses
* Strong understanding of project accounting, WIP, and cost control
* Excellent Excel and financial reporting skills
* Ability to communicate clearly with non-finance stakeholders
Desirable
* Experience in an SME or growing business environment
* Familiarity with accounting systems such as Sage, Xero, or similar
* Commercial mindset with the ability to support strategic decisions
