Location: Ashdale Care Ireland are the leading provider of therapeutic residential care for children in Ireland. Join our expanding team as we continue to grow every day! We have an exciting opportunity for a Home Manager to join our community of care with a starting salary of €55,424.
Job Purpose: To manage the home in accordance with its Statement of Purpose and to ensure the maintenance of a safe and caring environment in accordance with relevant childcare legislation, national standards, and Ashdale Care (Ireland) Policies and Procedures.
About The Role:
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure all care practices comply with relevant childcare legislation, National Standards for Children’s Residential Centres, and best practices.
* Promote, participate in, and ensure high standards of physical care, hygiene, and safety for all children in the home.
* Manage the home to meet the individual needs of children and promote positive outcomes.
* Participate in pre-admission and admission processes, ensuring care plans meet children's needs.
* Develop, implement, and monitor individual care plans.
* Attend planning meetings, statutory reviews, management team meetings, and represent the home positively, advocating for children and families where needed.
* Build and maintain good relationships with parents, social workers, teachers, doctors, and other professionals.
* Seek and act upon children’s views and wishes appropriately.
* Ensure the integration of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and Person Centred Planning (PCP) models into care practices and monitor their application.
* Provide monthly and weekly reports on children’s placements to social workers.
* Attend court and provide updated court reports.
* Regularly update statistics on young people in care.
* Conduct audits of care standards and practices, engaging young people in this process.
* Contribute to governance systems to ensure continuous improvement.
* Develop links between the home and the community.
Staff Management:
* Provide leadership and guidance to staff.
* Organize daily staffing to ensure 24-hour coverage and consistent care.
* Assist in induction and supervision of staff, including appraisals.
* Ensure effective communication within the team, including handovers and meetings.
* Support staff with report writing and HR policies, including recruitment and absence management.
* Promote learning and development; develop annual training plans.
Management of Finances:
* Assist with budget verification, including monthly returns and accounts.
* Ensure adherence to financial procedures for allowances, pocket money, clothing, and petty cash.
Management of Resources:
* Create a homely environment for children.
* Maintain a safe environment, complying with health and safety laws.
* Ensure the upkeep of buildings, grounds, equipment, and vehicles.
Personal Development:
* Maintain high standards of child care practice.
* Address poor practices immediately and report to management.
* Continuously develop professional skills through supervision and training.
* Participate in duty rosters and sleeping-in duties as required.

Skills Needed:
