Overview

Ecology Graduate - Dublin, IRE - March 2026 start


Responsibilities

* Work within a multi-disciplinary team on field surveys including preliminary ecological appraisal, Phase 1 habitat surveys, other botanical surveys, ecological impact assessment and a range of protected species surveys.
* Fieldwork may require working away from home and some work at night when surveying.
* Support a team which works safely and to a high technical standard; combine good organization, research and planning skills with field skills.
* Work with a range of taxonomic groups and be encouraged to pursue personal interests.


Qualifications

* 2:1 degree and above (or equivalent) in Ecology or a subject with ecological component.
* Keen interest and understanding of Irish wildlife.
* Irish plant and animal identification skills (indirect and direct field signs).
* Excellent field skills; experience with protected species surveys is preferred.
* Ability to record data efficiently and methodically.
* Strong Microsoft Office skills (Word and Excel) and strong numeracy.
* Effective communication with internal and external clients, both verbally and in writing; ability to engage with a variety of people and discuss technical issues.
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to structure and prioritise work with the team.
* Self-motivation, enthusiasm, hardworking, with ambition and drive.
* Excellent research and report writing skills; ability to work in a team and independently.
* Ability to work flexibly under pressure and adapt to changing project demands.
* Commitment to continued education and improvement through approved training schemes.
* Willing and able to visit other locations on company business; a full driving licence is beneficial.
* Experience in the ecology sector or relevant voluntary experience is beneficial; knowledge of Irish environmental law and planning systems is advantageous.


Preferred Qualifications

* Postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject.
* Proven experience of Fossitt habitat, IVC and botanical surveys.
* Protected species licences (e.g., bat surveys) held or in progress.
* Membership of or working towards full membership of an appropriate professional institution.
* Evidence of published work in ecology.
