Bord Gáis Energy is seeking a dynamic
Mechanical & Process Systems Lead Engineer
to drive the technical leadership of our asset development strategy.
You'll own the end-to-end management of Mechanical & Process Systems Engineering across our portfolio, including major projects worth over €1 billion.
About the role
Lead Mechanical & Process Systems engineering for Bord Gáis Energy's Ireland and UK assets.
Collaborate with Asset Development teams to shape and deliver Centrica's multi-billion euro investment portfolio.
Manage key stakeholders—contractors, regulators, TSO/DSO, and more—ensuring projects meet technical, safety, and quality standards.
Oversee contracts, technical design, construction, commissioning, and optimisation of thermal generation, solar, turbine, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
Provide expert technical guidance and governance from design through to commissioning and handover.
Conduct technical due diligence on new investment opportunities.
Challenge designs to secure optimal, cost-effective solutions and coordinate between EPC contractors, OEMs, and other stakeholders.

Qualifications
A seasoned engineer with vast experience in mechanical/process systems within capital asset projects, ideally in power, energy, or process plants.
Expert in mechanical/process design, construction, commissioning, and operation, with detailed knowledge of thermal generation equipment (gas turbines, engines, auxiliary systems).
Familiar with key engineering codes and standards (IEC, API, ASME, PED).
Skilled in managing complex projects and hazardous environments involving high-pressure hydrocarbons and high voltage systems.
Strong communicator and influencer, experienced in stakeholder management across EPC, regulatory, and government bodies.
Knowledgeable in contract types (FIDIC, NEC), project management, risk analysis, and project controls.
Confident in leading teams and meetings in a matrix organisation, delivering clear, data-driven insights.
