Job Description
Project Planning Manager Role:
This role involves managing input and advising on all planning issues and requirements in-house for large-scale ground-mounted solar PV, BESS (Battery Energy Storage System), and co-located projects. You will progress projects through planning compliance, apply for additional planning applications as required, prepare the projects for construction, and support any planning requirements during the operational period.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of planning processes in Ireland and the UK, with experience working on complex projects involving multiple stakeholders. They will also possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to manage relationships effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
* Reviewing planning applications prior to submission and liaising with the Development team to address findings and foresee potential planning issues
* Reviewing and advising on draft planning conditions, managing the discharge of pre-commencement and compliance conditions, and submitting post-determination supplemental planning applications and amendments
* Preserving planning permissions, obtaining required permissions, permits, and licenses from statutory bodies, and conducting topographical, geotechnical, and other surveys as needed
* Liaising with various teams within the company, including external consultants, Local Planning Authorities, and statutory bodies to ensure timely progression of planning and permit requirements
* Advising and supporting the Elgin Transactions team in relation to planning considerations for the purchase of development projects
* Providing other planning advice and support as required to various teams within the company
Requirements:
* A planning-related postgraduate degree or equivalent, chartered membership with IPI or RTPI, or relevant professional body
* At least 5 years' experience with planning processes in Ireland and the UK
* Experience with development, pre-construction, and construction processes for ground-mounted solar PV, BESS, and co-located projects is desirable
* Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
* Commercial acumen, process-driven approach, and ability to manage multiple stakeholders effectively
* Strong time management, organizational, and report-writing skills
* High level of self-motivation and ability to work independently
