Overview
Our client based in Dublin is committed to growing its business and developing its people. They are seeking an experienced Construction-based Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Advisor to join their team on a permanent basis. This role will require travel to multiple construction sites in Dublin with some potential travel in Ireland and occasional visits to sites in the UK.
The Role
Reporting to the SHEQ Manager in the UK, the new team member will take ownership of the health, safety and environmental functions for their sites in Ireland.
Responsibilities
Promote a positive Health & Safety culture in the workplace with continuous improvement of systems and procedures.
Ensure all stakeholders comply with safety legislation and that health, safety and environmental policies and practices are adopted and adhered to prior to the commencement of projects and throughout their duration.
Participate in pre-tender submissions and interviews as required.
Monitor and review regular site performance through inspections and audits, including assessment of all risk assessments and method statements.
Assist with external audits and inspections.
Plan, develop, deliver and coordinate effective HSE training for all employees, temporary workers, contractors and visitors to promote a strong HSE culture, including toolbox talks and monthly HSE meetings.
Liaise with external stakeholders on behalf of the business at relevant external forums; attend industry dinners, functions, seminars, etc., as required on behalf of the company.
Collate assigned project End of Contract Environmental and Health & Safety documentation.
Requirements
Degree level in Health & Safety or a relevant equivalent qualification with experience in the field
Minimum 4+ years' experience in a similar EHS role within the construction industry
Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, standards and best practice in the construction industry in Ireland
Knowledge and experience of Safety and Quality Management Systems
Expert knowledge of Health and Safety statutory requirements, systems and processes
Experience in risk management, site inspections and investigations, including maintaining accurate records and producing reports/risk assessments with corrective actions
Full, clean driver’s licence and ability to commute throughout Ireland occasionally for work commitments
