Job Description
An amazing opportunity has arisen for a Senior Specialist Microbiology Virology in our Micro Analytical Sciences team. This team supports microbiological laboratories in the production of vaccines, biologics, and small molecules. The team plays a crucial role in transfer, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management of microbiological test methods, including equipment, for all modalities. This includes compendial, non-compendial, and alternative microbiological methods.
Responsibilities
1. Manage several microbiological/virological methods and act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME). Support transfer, regulatory interactions, and training related to microbiological/virological methods.
2. Ensure proper introduction and qualification of methods during transfer processes, overseeing complex products globally and involving appropriate SMEs.
3. Support evaluation, method development, and validation of alternative microbiological technologies (Rapid Microbiology Methods) as an SME.
4. Provide scientific support for microbiological studies and investigations, traveling up to 20% as needed.
5. Serve as a point of contact for microbiological methods at production sites and act as a global method owner.
6. Support the Micro Analytical Sciences Lead in coaching team members and taking on senior responsibilities.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Minimum Level 8 Bachelor's degree; a master's or equivalent experience is preferred.
* At least 8 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical microbiology or virology.
* Strong project management skills and experience managing complex projects.
* Proficiency in working with multidisciplinary teams globally.
* Broad knowledge of manufacturing, analytical development, validation, microbiology, and virology.
* Initiative, innovative thinking, and technical leadership abilities.
* Ability to lead, coach, and solve problems proactively under pressure.
* Knowledge of GMP and regulatory guidelines.
* Excellent analytical, technical, and communication skills.
