SENIOR DIETITIAN Part-Time Fixed Permanent Position 24.5 hours per week Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the part time post of Senior Dietitian The successful candidate will enjoy the challenges of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and possess the minimum following skills: Requirements: Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Human Nutrition & Dietetics, University of Dublin, Trinity College Dublin & the Dublin Institute of Technology or (ii) Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition & Dietetics with honours classification from the University of Dublin, Trinity College Dublin and a Graduate Diploma in Human Nutrition & Dietetics from the Dublin Institute of Technology or (iii) Possess a qualification in Dietetics at least equivalent to (i) or (ii) Any qualification outside of Republic of Ireland must be validated by the Irish Department of Health & Children Candidates must possess the requisite knowledge and ability, including a high standard of suitability, for the proper discharge of the office Minimum three years satisfactory post qualification dietetic experience in a Senior Dietitian role essential CORU registration Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills essential Be adaptable to change, motivated and innovative with good IT and analytical skills Job Description: To provide an evidence based dietetic service to the Bon Secours Hospital Tralee inpatient and outpatient community in the designated area within a best practice/evidence based framework. Be responsible for nutritional assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment / intervention programmes for Service Users according to professional standards; identify requirement for oral/enteral nutrition support and/or therapeutic diet. Be able to make highly specialist clinical decisions following assessment of complex cases. Be a part of a specialist rehabilitation multidisciplinary team providing an outpatient service off site in the Kerry GAA centre of excellence in Currans Co. Kerry- the post allocation for this service is 0.3 WTE To keep up to date with advances in evidence based practice relevant to assigned area of work and to participate in CPD including attendance at relevant educational meetings, conferences and internal training, and training relevant to clinical nutrition products. Day to day management of the designated caseload including planning, assessment and intervention. An ability to work closely in collaboration with the other members of the multidisciplinary team in the planning and delivery of services for children and young people. To support the development of nutrition and dietetic services in line with Bon Secours Hospital Tralee development plans To provide evidence-based nutrition counselling and support to all service users To carry out other duties as appropriate to the role including liaising with other departments including Catering, Quality etc. To contribute to hospital quality monitors and goals including data collection and presentation Duties and responsibilities of any post are likely to change with the evolving team practices.
