Role Description: Design Engineer
Location: On-site in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford
Type: Full-time, Permanent
We are currently seeking a Design Engineer with a minimum of 4 years' experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment. This is a hands-on, on-site role focused on product design, development, and support for production. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of CAD/CAM systems and the ability to take designs from concept through to fabrication.
Key Responsibilities
• Create detailed 2D and 3D designs and technical drawings using CAD/CAM software
• Work closely with production teams to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable
• Develop prototypes and improve existing products based on feedback and performance
• Collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders to deliver customised design solutions
• Maintain accurate documentation, including technical specs, and change requests
• Provide input on tooling, materials, and production processes
• Contribute to continuous improvement in design, workflow, and efficiency
Qualifications
• Minimum of 4 years' experience in a Design Engineer or similar role
• Proficiency with CAD/CAM software — experience with Fusion 360, SpaceClaim, Progecad/Autocad or equivalent is essential
* Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and tolerances
* Ability to interpret technical drawings and communicate designs effectively
* Experience working in a fast-paced, custom manufacturing environment is a plus
* Excellent problem-solving and time management skills
* Attention to detail and a proactive, solution-focused mindset
* Must be legally authorised to work in Ireland
• Relevant third-level engineering qualification preferred — however, equivalent practical experience will also be considered
