Dublin City Volunteer Centre (DCVC) is the 'one-stop-shop' for volunteering in the Dublin city area. We are a registered charity in Ireland and a member of Volunteer Ireland and the national network of volunteer centres.

Job Title:
Volunteer Engagement Officer

Reporting to:
Deputy Manager

Location:
Unit 4, Whitefriars, Aungier Street, Dublin 2 (moving to Amiens St Dublin 1 in January 2026) & remote (blended)

Contract Type:
Full-Time Fixed-Term Contract (35 hrs/week for 12 months)

Salary:
€36,433.44 to €44,630.96 gross per annum – Movement within the scale is dependent on performance as determined by annual review

The Volunteer Engagement Officer is responsible for working with the current Engagement Team (staff and volunteers) to deliver an accessible and quality-focused volunteer placement service across Dublin City. Provision of general information and support for volunteering as well as a focus on systems (Salesforce) management will be a key part of the role, ensuring service in line with our Quality Standards Framework.

Key Duties:

Engagement

* Facilitate the placement of individuals seeking to volunteer by providing tailored supports including identification of suitable roles and up to date information on the application process. This action may include one-to-one appointments online or in person in addition to email support.
* Actively focus on increasing the placement rate of volunteers throughout Dublin City.
* Utilise Salesforce to report on, quality check and analyse placement-related volunteer data, including monitoring compliance dashboards and follow-up surveys.
* Engage in continuous evaluation and improvement of processes in the placement service, along with the Volunteer Engagement & Inclusion Officer.
* Plan, organise and deliver volunteering events, physical or virtual, such as Meet the Organisation, Get Started Volunteering, Volunteer Information Evenings, etc, supporting Inclusion events as needed.
* Contribute high quality content for the website and other communications platforms in line with the Communications Plan.
* Assist with the recruitment and day-to-day supervision of the in-house volunteers involved with the Engagement Team.
* Co-ordinate tasks for the in-house Engagement Team volunteers ensuring that registrations, applications and follow-up steps are processed and completed in an accurate and timely fashion according to established procedures.
* Support the Community Volunteers programme by working in conjunction with the Community Volunteers Officer to encourage volunteers to join the programme and take part in events.

General

* Where required, play a support role in the successful delivery of Centre events and campaigns such as volunteer fairs, National Volunteer Week, International Volunteer Day, etc, and with Community Volunteers events
* Participate in Volunteer Ireland's Placement Officers Forum (POF); and other VI/VC network working groups where appropriate.
* Support the management team/board in the continuous quality improvement of the Centre, the Quality Standards Framework, and the National Volunteer Strategy.
* Actively participate in peer learning and development within the Centre.
* Formulate reports/communications, as requested, for the purposes of Board Reports, Press Releases, Funding Proposals, Progress Reports and Communications with Stakeholders including volunteers.
* Represent the Centre in community events and meetings relevant to the Volunteer Sector.

Key Skills

Essential:

* Commitment to the concept of volunteering and objectives of the post.
* Work or volunteer experience directly or in a related field e.g., community or voluntary sector.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
* Strong organisational, administrative and IT skills.
* Accurate and methodological approach.
* Ability to adjust and adapt to dynamic work environment.
* Ability to advise, inform, motivate, and support individuals and organisations.
* Ability to work as part of a team and foster culture of collaboration.
* Self-motivated with a friendly and approachable manner.

Desirable:

* A working knowledge of 'Salesforce'.
* A relevant third level qualification.
* Experience with Volunteer Management.
* Experience with Event Management.
