? Staff Grade & Senior Speech & Language Therapist – Adult Acute Services

Role Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Speech & Language Therapist (Staff Grade or Senior) to join a progressive, multidisciplinary team providing adult inpatient services in an acute hospital setting. This role involves working with patients presenting with a wide range of communication and swallowing disorders and contributing to high-quality, person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities (Both Grades):

Provide timely assessment, diagnosis, and intervention for adults with communication and/or swallowing difficulties.

Manage a caseload of inpatients, including individuals with complex medical and neurological conditions.

Collaborate with medical, nursing, and allied health colleagues to support integrated care planning and effective discharge processes.

Contribute to clinical governance, service improvement initiatives, and ongoing quality assurance processes.

Participate in clinical supervision and engage in relevant CPD activities.

Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and timely clinical documentation in accordance with legal and professional standards.
Additional Responsibilities for Senior Grade:

Provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior colleagues and students.

Support the coordination and delivery of service development projects and audits.

Take an active role in strategic planning and implementation of evidence-based practice across the service.

Contribute to the development and review of departmental protocols and procedures.
Essential Requirements (All Grades):

A recognised qualification in Speech & Language Therapy.

CORU registration (or eligibility).
-
Clinical experience working with adults in the areas of communication and dysphagia.

Strong communication, documentation, and organisational skills.

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Additional Requirements for Senior Grade:

Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience, including at least 18 months in adult dysphagia/acute care.

Demonstrated leadership in clinical or service development initiatives.
Desirable (Both Grades):
-
Postgraduate training in dysphagia management.

Experience working in an acute hospital or similar high-paced environment.

Familiarity with SLT outcome measures and use of electronic health records.

Membership of the Irish Association of Speech & Language Therapists (IASLT).
