MRI hours of operation Mon - Thurs 7am - midnight Fri 7am - midnight Sat - 8am - 4pm Grade 3 An exciting opportunity has arisen for an MRI Assistant to join the Bon Secours Hospital in Galway, part of the Bon Secours Health System Ireland's Largest Private Healthcare provider.
Job Purpose The role of an MRI Assistant is to work closely with radiographers and administrative staff in MRI to ensure a high standard of patient care.
Key Duties Confirm correct patient for correct scan, through triple ID check of demographics (name, date of birth, address) and that this matches the data on the radiology system.
Ensure MRI safety questionnaire is fully filled out for each patient.
Answer any questions the patient has and reassure the patient at all times.
Treat each patient and staff member with dignity, courtesy, and respect.
Prepare the MRI scanner for the next patient, change MRI equipment and set up as required.
Maintain a high standard of hygiene within MRI scan room and surrounding area.
This involves cleaning after each patient.
Be familiar with the Health and Safety and fire regulations and keep up to date with all mandatory training.
Assist the radiographer in any other duties they require.
Assist with MRI administrative duties in the evenings.
This involves, but is not limited to, Validating insurance forms on relevant system Scanning referrals received in the Health Link Platform into radiology system to avoid delays in processing.
Relieving the MRI receptionist at various times, by answering phone, taking messages, and be familiar with radiology IT systems to help with any queries.
Ideal Candidate: The person holding this post must support the principle that the patients care always comes first and will approach their work with the flexibility.
Liaising with all members of the multi- disciplinary team in creating an efficient, safe, and friendly environment for services delivery.
Essential Qualifications The candidate must have the personal competence and capacity to properly discharge the duties of the role Skills Communicate clearly, effectively, and appropriately with the healthcare team, the patient, and their family/carers Use the telephone effectively and efficiently deal with queries when possible and pass on clear messages.
Report requests, queries from patients/visitors to radiology team.
Respond appropriately to queries, take phone messages and pass on written and verbal information to the healthcare team.
Maintain patient confidentiality.
Report any patient concerns to the appropriate personnel.
Maintain professional boundaries and working relationships with patients and colleagues.
Possess the ability to explain, advocate and express facts and ideas in a convincing manner and actively liaise with individuals and groups internally and externally.
