We are seeking a part-time cheesemonger (no previous experience needed), available three days per week over seven, for our counter in Dunnes Stores, Knocknacarra. We welcome people who love cheese and recognize the connection between food producers and consumers. This role involves storytelling, tasting, sharing knowledge, and experience. Working for Sheridans Cheesemongers offers a chance to gain skills and develop deep knowledge of Irish and European food production and culture through in-house training and practical experience. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food, a willingness to learn, enjoy conversation and cheese puns, and understand the importance of promoting artisan food producers.

Job Title: Cheesemonger
Department: Knocknacarra
Scope of Position
The Cheesemonger is responsible for cheese and other food and non-food item sales at the counter and concession walls. Responsibilities include caring for cheese to ensure quality, maintaining product knowledge, explaining product stories, and ensuring cleanliness of counters, storage areas, tasting tables, and fridges.
Key Responsibilities
* Providing excellent customer service and making sales in a fast-paced environment.
* Maintaining high standards of personal and customer service.
* Telling stories about local food and producers to promote food culture.
The role involves learning about and educating customers on Sheridans' products, Irish & European artisan cheese, and food producers. It requires familiarity with product ranges, working tactfully in busy environments, assisting customers, managing stock, and maintaining food safety standards, including HACCP documentation and allergen awareness. Additional duties include preparing and displaying cheese, maintaining displays, stock rotation, and participating in inventory and daily counter maintenance. Ad hoc duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications/Experience
* 1 year of similar experience is desirable but not essential.
* Knowledge of Irish and European farmhouse cheese.
* HACCP training or awareness of food safety standards.
* Interest in cheese and artisan foods.
* Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently.
* Excellent communication and customer service skills.
* Outgoing, cheerful personality.
* Availability three days over seven, including weekends.
