Datacenter Engineer Job Description
As a Datacenter Engineer, you will be responsible for the upkeep and deployment of data center, server, and network infrastructure. You will troubleshoot hardware issues and oversee large-scale infrastructure projects under tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
* Infrastructure Support: Resolve server, network hardware, and infrastructure problems to ensure seamless data center operations.
* Solution Implementation: Participate in deploying large-scale infrastructure projects with strict timelines.
* Cable Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve connectivity problems related to copper or fiber cabling.
* Technical Communication: Provide clear technical information for complex systems.
* Customer Support: Manage internal ticketing systems for efficient issue resolution and customer service.
* Hardware Maintenance: Identify and troubleshoot server hardware issues, replacing malfunctioning components.
* Equipment Management: Handle receiving, tracking, and deploying server and network infrastructure.
* Spare Parts Control: Monitor on-site spare parts inventory for availability and organization.
* Installation & Racking: Perform racking, cabling, and installation of server and network infrastructure.
* Process Optimization: Update documentation and follow established processes to enhance system stability and performance.
* Policy Compliance: Ensure compliance with data center environment policies and procedures.
* Infrastructure Development: Deploy infrastructure solutions that support business growth while maintaining scalability.
* Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate across teams to align infrastructure with business objectives.
* Maintenance & Repairs: Conduct routine maintenance and physical part replacements for servers and network infrastructure.
Requirements:
* Minimum Qualifications: 2+ years of experience in high-availability data center environments. Hands-on experience troubleshooting data center, network, or server hardware issues. Practical experience in racking, physical maintenance, and data center hardware management.
* Preferred Skills: Strong attention to detail, thorough understanding of copper and fiber cabling, experience with data center documentation tools, and knowledge of Juniper, Cisco, Dell, or HP hardware.
