Job Description
Introduction
Our client’s practice, located across Arklow, Rathdrum, and Tinahely in Co. Wicklow, is a progressive and supportive mixed practice dedicated to fostering a positive and team-oriented environment. With a commitment to excellent patient care and work-life balance, they are now seeking both a permanent and a fixed-term veterinary surgeon to join their close-knit team.
Working Hours / Rota
The full-time rota includes a 4.5-day working week with a 1 in 8 on-call schedule year-round. Overnight on-call accommodation is provided. The fixed-term role (mixed or small animal) runs from August to November. Flexibility is embedded in the rota to support a healthy work-life balance.
Role Description
The permanent position is a 60% small animal / 40% large animal mixed role, with no equine duties. Support is available for less experienced candidates. The practice ensures modern tools and a structured induction for new hires. Daily responsibilities include consultations, diagnostics, surgeries, and farm visits (for mixed role). Opportunities for career progression and CPD are actively supported.
Team Size
The practice is team-oriented and collaborative, offering a friendly, inclusive atmosphere where support and teamwork are prioritised across all branches.
Practice Details
The practice is well-equipped with modern diagnostic and treatment tools, including ultrasound, digital x-rays, and in-house blood machines. Located 40 minutes south of Dublin, it provides easy access to both the Wicklow Mountains and the sea, making it an ideal setting for those seeking work-life harmony.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a qualified veterinary surgeon, ideally with mixed practice experience, though support is available for recent graduates. A positive attitude, team spirit, and dedication to high clinical standards are essential. Both experienced and developing vets are encouraged to apply.
