Our client, a growing and well-established organisation, is seeking an experienced
IT & Systems Operations Manager
to take ownership of day-to-day technology operations and service delivery. This is a hands-on role with operational responsibility, offering exposure across infrastructure, security coordination, vendor management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The position would suit a senior IT professional who enjoys combining technical problem-solving with process oversight and stakeholder engagement, and who is motivated to help build a resilient, secure, and well-governed IT environment.
The Role
As IT & Systems Operations Manager, you will:
* Develop a strong understanding of internal workflows to assess technology needs and identify opportunities for improvement.
* Take responsibility for the day-to-day operation and stability of core IT systems and networks.
* Coordinate user onboarding and offboarding processes, including device preparation, access management, and basic IT and security awareness.
* Provide end-user technical support when required and act as the first point of escalation for issues impacting business operations.
* Oversee, alongside external technology partners, the management of cloud-based platforms, business applications, and infrastructure services.
* Ensure technology services are aligned with internal IT and security policies.
* Develop, document, and communicate IT standard operating procedures across the organisation.
* Manage relationships with third-party technology providers, ensuring service delivery meets agreed standards and service levels.
* Support security and compliance activities, including audits, assurance testing, and risk mitigation initiatives.
* Coordinate vulnerability remediation and incident response activities with internal stakeholders and external providers.
* Maintain accurate inventories of IT hardware, software, and licences.
* Contribute to risk assessments, insurance-related technology questionnaires, and governance documentation.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams on projects and change initiatives from a technology perspective.
* Stay up to date with developments in IT operations, infrastructure, and cybersecurity best practice.
* Undertake occasional travel to regional sites as required.
Experience & Skills
Essential:
* 6+ years' experience in a senior IT operations, systems administration, or infrastructure role.
* Strong hands-on experience supporting modern workplace technologies, enterprise applications, and cloud-based platforms.
* Solid understanding of endpoint management, identity and access controls, and general IT service management principles.
* Proven experience supporting backup, recovery, and business continuity processes.
* Working knowledge of corporate networking environments, including wired, wireless, and wide-area connectivity.
* Experience managing and coordinating external technology vendors and service providers.
* Good awareness of information security concepts and operational risk management.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with non-technical stakeholders.
* Self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working independently as well as part of a wider team.
Desirable:
* Relevant professional certifications in IT administration, infrastructure, or security.
* Exposure to project coordination or delivery within an IT or transformation environment.
* Basic understanding of data protection and regulatory compliance principles.
