Purpose of the Post
To always provide quality care to all patients.
The fundamental philosophy guiding this position is to promote and preserve the Mater Private Network Mission and Values while adhering to the Hospital's health and safety regulations.
The Mater Private Group established an academic cardiology department in **** as part of its vision and strategic development.
A fundamental part of this vision is to ensure that excellence in clinic care is supported by and in turn partners with research and education, both nationally and internationally.
Research and education can positively impact outcomes for patients, referrals and the recruitment of top talent.
Clinical Duties
Follow the Hospital admissions process by documenting History and Physical examination using the designated Initial Medical Assessment Form.
Provide cover in the EP Cath Lab and assistance to the rostered Consultant Cardiologist as necessary.
Participate in the out of hours cover/on call rota part and the Urgent Cardiac Care (UCC) cover.
Provide cover for the clinical inpatient service from time to time at the direction of the Director of Cardiology/Director of Cath Lab.
Attend weekly departmental meetings including Multi-Disciplinary Team meeting, Dublin Cardiovascular Research Forum (DCRF) RF, EP Research Meeting.
Organise/attend weekly EP journal club.
Adhere to all MPN policies on clinical practice.
To carry out other duties as appropriate to the post as may be assigned from time to time by the Director of Cardiology/Head of Electrophysiology.
Clinical Research Duties
Active participation (recruitment, procedure, data collection) in research studies of the department.
Produce academic papers and abstracts.
Systemic reviews.
PubMed Searches.
Data Analysis and interpretation (desirable).
Work within the standard operating procedures and research protocols associated with industry and academic clinical research activities in accordance with ICH–GCP.
To ensure patient confidentiality and dignity is assured and maintained at all times during a research project, in line with data protection legislation.
To complete all ethical and regulatory procedures (submissions, query resolution etc) for the research.
Deliver presentations on research output.
Submit and manage manuscript submission online.
Attend relevant national and international scientific meetings.
Carry out project delivery.
Provide education to consultants, fellows and other MPH staff.
Qualifications
Medical degree, MBBS or equivalent.
Registered or pending registration on the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council of Ireland.
GCP.
Experience
Experience at Registrar level.
Experience working in cardiac catheterisation laboratory, including experience in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic interventions.
