Project Worker, Mental Health, Tenancy Support and Sustainment, Clare (Full Time)
Description
As a Project Worker with Focus Ireland in Clare, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals who require assistance to sustain their tenancy in the community. This full-time position involves working closely with the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) to provide intensive tenancy support to mental health service users, many of whom may be homeless or at risk of homelessness.
The key worker system implemented for each person aims to help them settle into permanent, independent living in the community, with or without additional supports.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide support to users of mental health services who have housing support needs.
2. Collaborate with Community Mental Health Teams as an integrated team member to enhance support related to housing needs.
3. Visit individuals in their local community and, where appropriate, in their own homes.
4. Manage the support packages for individuals identified by the Community Mental Health Teams as requiring the Tenancy Support and Settlement Service.
5. Assist and manage clients' tenancy and housing needs, making onward referrals as necessary.
6. Help service users manage tenancy-related issues.
7. Establish links with local services, community groups, and work closely with housing providers or landlords where appropriate.
8. Respond appropriately to situations involving child protection and welfare concerns.
9. Conduct regular reviews of clients' wellbeing, social engagement, and active citizenship.
10. Work with a client-centered approach, promoting autonomy and independence based on recovery principles.
11. Maintain ongoing communication with the Focus Ireland Manager.
12. Participate in regular supervision sessions with the designated supervisor.
13. Work under the supervision of line management within the project and report to the Mental Health Service Improvement governance structures.
14. Comply with all relevant policies, including Child Protection, Confidentiality, Customer Complaints, Health and Safety, and Personnel policies.
15. Keep accurate records and statistics as per organizational policies.
16. Develop resource materials on local services.
17. Supervise volunteers, students, or support staff when required.
18. Participate in project review, evaluation, and development.
19. Engage in relevant training, including Recovery in Mental Health courses.
20. Attend and contribute to team, section, and agency meetings.
21. Prepare regular reports for supervision and management.
22. Work cooperatively with other divisions within Focus Ireland regarding organizational procedures and policies.
23. Align work with the overall objectives of Focus Ireland and the Mid-West Mental Health Service.
24. Undertake additional duties as assigned by supervisors or management.
Requirements:
1. A relevant third-level qualification (e.g., social care, psychology, sociology).
2. Excellent knowledge of services for those experiencing mental health challenges.
3. Understanding or experience working with individuals or families who have experienced homelessness.
4. Full clean driving license and own vehicle.
5. Experience supporting individuals with mental health difficulties (desirable).
6. Ability to work independently (desirable).
