SECTION I: GENERAL INFORMATION

$46,744 to $107,076 Annually
General Summary of Purpose of Job:
Occupational Therapists provide a related service to support the special needs of qualified students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), assigning, designing, and implementing appropriate therapies, preparing and maintaining appropriate records, and related work as apparent or assigned.
SECTION II: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide direct and indirect Occupational Therapy (OT) to identified students in home or schools.
Train special and general education staff, parent and other team members on specific interventions.
Recommend and train staff, parents and/or students on equipment; observes student in various educational environments and provides recommendations; adapts and/or modifies materials.
Implement educational plans as described on IEPs and provide information for building staff as needed.
Maintain appropriate IEP records and reports.
Collect data on progress on goals and objectives for each student and meet all required timelines.
Maintain accurate up to date records in the areas of program data collection and third party billing.
Communicate effectively with students, families, educators, and administrators regarding student programs and progress.
Adhere to all district policies and procedures.
Support the district's mission, vision and values.
Work cooperatively with general education teachers and staff and provide building consultation, support and training as needed.
Create and maintain a professional working relationship with families and staff.
Conduct assessments, comprehensive report results, and follow Minnesota state criteria in area(s) of special education eligibility as well as mandated timelines.
Determine and complete purchase orders for supplies, materials, and equipment based on student needs.
Participate in building and District level professional development activities.
Measure and document therapy outcomes and attendance.
Collaborate with district motor team to share best practices and new therapy initiatives.
Adhere to federal and state statute and rules related to individualized service and due process.
Perform all other duties and responsibilities in certification areas as directed by the Director of Student Services and/or the Building Principal.
Other duties as assigned.
SECTION III: WORK REQUIREMENTS AND CHARACTERISTICS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum education and experience required to perform adequately in position could reasonably be attained only by completing the following:
Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an Accredited Program
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:

Current Occupational Therapist License issued by the MN Department of Health
In accordance with Minnesota Statutes, section 122A.261, educators working in public preschool, School Readiness, and Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) programs within school districts and charter schools are required to hold a valid Minnesota teaching license by July 1, ****.
Educators with five (5) or more years of relevant teaching experience prior to September **** may qualify for an exemption under this law.
