About the role
RTÉ is seeking a hands‑on Head of Finance to lead our financial operations and reporting. This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader, capable of managing the day‑to‑day finance function while also contributing to RTÉ’s financial strategy, finance transformation and overall organisational change.
Key Responsibilities
* Partner with the CFO and the leadership team to develop and execute RTÉ's financial strategy and long‑term plan
* Provide insightful financial analysis, variance reporting, and operational metrics to drive performance and efficiency
* Work closely with the CFO on all financial matters, including capital allocation, risk management, and profitability
Financial Management & Reporting
* Oversee all aspects of financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
* Ensure the timely and accurate production of all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) in accordance with accounting standards
* Oversee the timely and accurate development of budgets, financial reports, and models that will assist the CFO and leadership team in making informed strategy, resource allocation and investment decisions
* Establish and maintain strong internal controls, financial policies and procedures
* Ensure effective cash flow management and liquidity, including overseeing working capital optimisation and management of debt levels
* Lead the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors and work with other regulators and stakeholders including government agencies and departments
Operational Excellence
* Identify and implement process improvements and automation to streamline financial operations
* Monitor expenditure and identify opportunities to reduce costs
* Partner with leadership team and department heads on budget oversight and provide financial guidance
* Ensure strong cost control processes and lead continuous efficiency and cost reduction programmes
Compliance & Risk Management
* Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and tax filings and compliance
* Manage corporate insurance policies and risk management strategies
* Stay up to date regarding any changes in financial regulations and legislation and ensure its adoption and implementation
Team Leadership & Development
* Provide leadership, direction and management of the finance team
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration within the team
About You
Qualifications & Experience
* Accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
* Minimum 5 years of successful experience in a senior leadership role in a finance function in an organisation of sufficient scale and complexity
* Strong project management skills with a record of developing and strengthening systems and processes, implementation of finance automation and systems
* Expertise in financial reporting standards, treasury matters, best practice in corporate governance and risk management
* Demonstrated experience in financial modelling, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning
* Proven track record of building and transforming finance functions
* Experience managing external audit relationships
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software/ERPs
* Proficiency with data visualization and BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)

This appointment will be made at the Personal Contract grade and is being offered on an ongoing contract basis. The expected salary on appointment is €175k ,subject to relevant skills, knowledge and experience.
