Role Purpose
The Tech Ops Lead will play a key role in supporting and enhancing IT operations within a MedTech environment, operating primarily across Microsoft-based infrastructure and end-user services.
Working within an outsourced, vendor-supported operating model, this role will provide hands-on technical expertise, operational oversight, and escalation support to ensure stable, secure, and high-performing technology services that enable business growth and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Windows & Infrastructure Operations
* Provide senior-level support and administration across Windows Server and Windows desktop environments.
* Maintain, support, and optimise Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and core Microsoft infrastructure services.
* Support Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Intune, Entra ID (Azure AD), and endpoint management.
* Ensure high availability, performance, and security of infrastructure services across multiple sites and users.
Service Delivery & Operational Excellence
* Act as an escalation point for complex or unresolved infrastructure and end-user issues.
* Ensure IT services are delivered in line with agreed SLAs and operational procedures.
* Monitor service performance, identify recurring issues, and drive root cause resolution.
* Support incident, problem, and change management processes, ensuring effective documentation and continuous improvement.
* Balance reactive support with proactive maintenance and improvement activities.
Vendor & Stakeholder Collaboration
* Work closely with third-party service providers to ensure consistent service quality and technical standards.
* Review vendor performance, track deliverables, and support service improvement initiatives.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure technology services align with business and operational requirements.
* Translate technical issues and solutions into clear, business-focused language for non-technical stakeholders.
Project & Change Support
* Contribute to infrastructure and end-user technology projects, including upgrades, migrations, and system enhancements.
* Support implementation of new tools, platforms, and security controls in line with MedTech regulatory expectations.
* Ensure changes are planned, tested, and implemented with minimal business disruption.
Security, Compliance & Risk
* Support the implementation and operation of security controls across Windows and Microsoft platforms.
* Ensure compliance with internal IT governance, information security policies, and data protection requirements (GDPR).
* Participate in incident reviews and risk mitigation activities to reduce the likelihood of repeat issues.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
* 5+ years' experience in a senior Windows engineering or infrastructure-focused role.
* Strong background supporting enterprise Windows environments within regulated industries (MedTech, healthcare, pharma, or similar).
* Proven experience working in outsourced or vendor-supported IT operating models.
* Degree or equivalent experience in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
Technical Skills
* Strong expertise in:
* Windows Server (on-prem and/or cloud-integrated environments)
* Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP
* Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Intune, Entra ID)
* Solid understanding of endpoint management, patching, and security hardening.
* Good knowledge of networking fundamentals and cybersecurity principles.
* Familiarity with GDPR, data protection, and IT governance requirements.
* Exposure to PowerShell scripting and automation is desirable.
