Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee daily retail activities to ensure quality customer service
* Delegate and communicate with the sales team
* Induct and train employees effectively
* Communicate sales performance to the team
* Recruit high calibre retail assistants
* Maintain store merchandising in a customer-friendly manner, adhering to guidelines
* Maintain optimal housekeeping standards within the store
* Coordinate in-store sales and promotions
* Ensure cash handling policies are followed
* Update shelf-edged labels on a weekly basis
* React to local market trends and competition
Additional Responsibilities:
* Assist in stock take preparations and supervise as necessary
* Minimise stock loss through wastage, damages, and pilferage
* Ensure food management and waste systems are followed by the sales team
* Check stock levels to ensure adequate stock is available for customers' needs
* Rotating stock to ensure in-date stock is available and minimise waste
Legislation & Security:
* Ensure secure opening and closing procedures
* Comply with labour law, health & safety regulations, HACCP, and consumer legislation
* Identify and reduce or eliminate potential hazards in the store
* Conduct health & safety checks and action accordingly
Requirements:
* Achieve targets as agreed with the manager
* Escalate issues to the manager as necessary
* Communicate regularly with the manager
* Deputise as store manager when unavailable
The ideal candidate will possess many of the following attributes: previous management experience, fresh food experience, excellent fresh food knowledge, operational knowledge of the retail environment, excellent interpersonal relations, understanding of consumer needs, commercial acumen, self-motivated, ambitious, and computer skills
