About The Role
GES are expanding our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of GIS/CAD mapping and survey tasks to support all stages of the delivery of wind and solar energy, battery energy storage, electrical transmission infrastructure and associated projects.
As a GIS/CAD technician, you will work with our technical and planning teams to provide support mapping and other technical services, including the collection and processing of datasets from many different sources, data management, analysis of spatial data, and preparation of final outputs.
Key Responsibilities
GES offer owner engineer and project management services to various renewable energy projects, at varying stages of development. Our key services in our Pre‑Construction and Construction offering include the following:
General GIS/CAD support to the technical and planning services
Preparation of project design (site layout, architectural, engineering etc.) drawings associated with the design and construction of wind and solar energy, battery energy storage, electrical transmission infrastructure and other associated development projects
Preparation of planning application drawings to validation standards
Preparation of site constraints mapping and analysis, including report writing
Tender submissions including assistance in relation to document compilation
Undertaking site surveys and subsequent processing and analysing of survey data
Compiling and collating research data on renewable energy projects and associated datasets (environmental, grid, infrastructure etc.)
General technical and digital support to the GES team, including website support
Operate in compliance with ISO 9001, 14001 and 50001
Adhere to the company's compliance obligations, policies, processes and procedures
Report compliance concerns, issues and failures
Participate in training as required
Skills / Qualifications
Proficient in AutoCAD, ArcGIS and other project design software
Good report writing skills
Developed client‑facing skills with a client‑orientated approach
Commercially astute and innovative with a solution‑focused ethos
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
Ability to work effectively within a team environment
Excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational and project‑management skills
Able to balance competing priorities and meet personal targets within a fluctuating and demanding workload
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Full, clean driving licence
Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently
