Job Description Your New Job Our client, a leading timber processor with operations across Ireland and the UK, is seeking an experienced Forester to join their expanding team.
This is a full-time, permanent position based in Fermoy, Co.
Cork, with travel required to Coillte lots and private forestry growers across the Republic of Ireland.
As part of a highly skilled forestry team, you will play a key role in managing the procurement, harvesting, and supply of logs to sawmills, ensuring that production requirements are met safely, efficiently, and in line with company and industry standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities: Manage log procurement and valuation (standing, roadside, and delivered), securing material from both state and private suppliers.
Oversee harvesting and haulage operations, ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety standards and the role of Forest Works Manager as defined under HSA and industry codes of practice.
Coordinate log intake planning to the mill, aligning supply with production schedules and specifications.
Monitor and ensure delivery of logs to meet mill requirements in terms of volume, specification, and quality standards.
Operate and maintain company Forest Management Systems in line with operational best practice.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, contractors, and industry stakeholders.
Participate in meetings, marketing events, and forestry committees as required.
Stay informed on current forestry issues, innovations, and market developments, applying knowledge to enhance operations.
What Are We Looking For? A third-level qualification in Forestry or a related field.
Proven experience in log valuation, procurement, and forest works management.
Demonstrated ability to manage harvesting and haulage contractors while maintaining quality, safety, and compliance standards.
Strong understanding of forestry industry codes of practice and safety legislation.
Excellent analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities with the capacity to build productive relationships.
A self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Proficiency in IT systems and forest management software.
Full, clean driving licence and a willingness to travel throughout Ireland.
