We are seeking a highly motivated scientist to help us build software development tools to support the emerging field of quantum computing. The ideal candidate has expertise in quantum computing, preferably with knowledge of compilers, system programming or high-performance computing. You will work closely with other scientists (physicists and computer scientists), and establish collaborations with the product, engineering and design teams to develop the enabling technology behind our products. You should have excellent communication skills, strong motivation for learning, and a passion for pushing at the boundaries of technology.The successful candidate will join a fast-growing team that will influence the software architecture for our software development tools and will lay the foundation for future products.ResponsibilitiesWork with other scientists and engineers to design and develop programming tools that directly interact with quantum hardwareEnable support for emerging quantum hardware, and ensure robust integration with our software infrastructureConnect internal compiler components with user-facing services and interfacesSolve scientific and technical problems in support of Horizon’s product developmentMaintain proper documentation of your work and present results both internally and externallyWrite reports, research papers and technical documentation as may be required by the companyWork with other employees and external partners to develop and protect novel intellectual property relating to quantum hardware and software innovationsKeep up to date with the latest scientific and technical advancesRequirementsM.S. in Quantum Computing, Quantum Physics, Computer Science, or a related fieldProficiency in C++, Python, or other systems-level programming languagesExperience in quantum programming and MatlabStrong troubleshooting and debugging skillsAbility to work independently, and in a team environment as deemed necessaryHighly motivated with a passion for learning and driving technical progressExcellent collaboration, communication and documentation skillsPreferred qualificationsFamiliarity with API design, remote procedure calls, or distributed systems programming is a plus.Experience with working on commercial software developmentAbout the CompanyAt Horizon Quantum Computing, we are developing tools to simplify and expedite the process of developing software for quantum computers, a fundamentally new form of computer that exploits effects from quantum physics to process information more efficiently.
