Job Description:
The primary objective of this role is to provide high-quality support and guidance to nursing staff in the development of evidence-based practice. This will involve working closely with clinical nurse managers, staff nurses, and other multidisciplinary team members to assess individual learning needs and develop strategies for ongoing professional development.
Responsibilities:
* To design, implement, and evaluate staff orientation programs, ensuring that new staff members receive comprehensive training and induction into the clinical area.
* To provide expert leadership in promoting the review and development of evidence-based nursing practice, collaborating with staff nurses to identify areas for improvement and implementing changes to optimize patient care.
* To participate in a ward management development program for nurses who have reached the required clinical standard, deputizing for clinical nurse managers as necessary.
* To establish and maintain a sub-library appropriate to the immediate needs of the ward, ensuring access to relevant literature and resources for nursing staff.
* To coordinate and facilitate the review of nursing practice and guidelines for practice, examining existing policies and procedures, reviewing new literature, and formulating draft guidelines for further consideration.
Requirements:
* A minimum of 5 years' post-registration experience, with at least 2 years in the specialty or related area.
* Eligibility to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
* Demonstrated evidence of continuous professional development.
* Strong clinical, managerial, and administrative capacity to properly discharge the functions of the role.
