The Project Engineer is responsible for assisting the Project Manager in managing company equipment, personnel, and resources within the project's budget and schedule.
Responsibilities
1. Assist in managing projects, understanding both technical and practical aspects of DEC/SEC scope.
2. Handle contract administration, including thorough reviews with accounting and project management teams.
3. Ensure safety protocols are developed, implemented, and followed, including reporting and PPE requirements as per OSHA, company, and project site standards.
4. Anticipate consequences of actions, potential problems, or opportunities for change.
5. Manage deadlines, project scheduling, and communication within the project team.
6. Oversee the RFI process with the Project Engineering team.
7. Assist in managing project documentation, such as criteria and compliance logs.
8. Assist with defining job positions, descriptions, and chains of command within the project.
9. Partner with the Project Superintendent to balance resources and manpower.
10. Act as a liaison with General Contractors, Architects, Owners, and project team members.
11. Schedule and support the review and timely delivery of shop drawings and submittals.
12. Create and participate in change estimates.
13. Coordinate vendor/subcontractor buyout, interactions, and purchase/release of materials.
14. Develop and manage the project budget throughout its duration.
15. Update weekly estimate final costs and manage monthly cash flow and cost reporting.
16. Create schedules of value, monthly billings, and reports to accounting.
17. Manage labor production reporting with the Superintendent.
18. Oversee Project Quality Control, including punchlist development and oversight.
Other Responsibilities
* Drive and operate company and rental vehicles.
* Lift up to 30 lbs.
* Travel to various projects as needed.
* Perform basic office duties.
* Operate tools and machinery as required.
* Work outside normal hours if necessary.
* Communicate effectively and regularly.
* Maintain company standards, culture, and values.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
* 1-3 years of construction or project engineering experience; general contracting experience preferred.
* At least six months of field installation experience.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Project, Adobe or Bluebeam, Timberline or similar software; AutoCAD and Takeoff experience a plus.
* Thorough knowledge of construction contract documentation.
* Valid Driver’s License.
