A Graduate (Trainee) Merchandiser is an entry-level role where you learn how to plan, manage, and trade product ranges to drive sales and profit. A Typical Day involves Reviewing sales reports from the previous day Updating spreadsheets and forecasts Meeting with the buying team to review products Planning stock levels for upcoming weeks Making recommendations based on data In simple terms: You're learning how to: Predict what customers will buy Decide how much stock to purchase Get the right products in the right place Maximise sales and profit Key Responsibilities Data Analysis & Reporting Analyse daily and weekly sales data Identify trends, bestsellers, and underperforming items Produce reports to support decision-making Stock & Allocation Management Assist with distributing stock across stores or online Support replenishment to ensure availability Monitor stock levels and reduce waste Commercial Planning Support Help create sales forecasts and budgets Support range planning (what products to sell and how much) Track performance against targets Trading the Range React quickly to sales trends Suggest actions like promotions, markdowns, or reallocation Work closely with Buyers to optimise product performance Team Collaboration Work with: Support communication with suppliers and stores Skills & Requirements Strong numeracy and analytical skills Good knowledge of Excel (very important) Strong attention to detail Commercial awareness (understanding customer behaviour and trends) Interest in fashion/retail Good communication and teamwork skills Entry Requirements Degree (business, economics, fashion, maths, or similar) Internships, retail jobs, or placement year If this sounds like the job for you, please apply now!
