Overview of Role The CNM II plays a key role in planning, coordinating, and managing activity and resources within the theatre department. This role leads the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care across multiple theatres, ensuring efficient service provision and clinical excellence. Key Responsibilities Clinical Leadership & Patient Care Deliver and oversee patient care to the highest professional standards using an evidence-based approach Provide strong clinical leadership and support to nursing teams Coordinate, plan, implement, and evaluate care within the designated area Ensure all care aligns with NMBI guidelines and hospital policies Monitor and evaluate care quality using established systems and audits Promote effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and families Maintain strict confidentiality at all times Service & Team Management Supervise, allocate, and support nursing and support staff to ensure optimal care delivery Foster teamwork, communication, and a positive working environment Manage resources effectively and support service development Lead practice development initiatives and implement change Contribute to and uphold policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives Support senior nursing management and deputise when required Quality, Safety & Governance Actively promote a culture of quality and patient safety Participate in audits, incident reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and attend mandatory training Maintain accurate clinical and administrative records Uphold strict information governance and confidentiality standards General Duties Work flexibly across clinical areas as required Support audit, data collection, and coordination with relevant departments (e.g. CSSD) Adhere to organisational values and professional standards Qualifications & Experience Essential: Registered in the General Division of the NMBI register Minimum 5 years' theatre experience in an acute setting Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills Desirable: Management experience in a theatre setting Post-registration qualification in Peri-Operative Care Management training and experience in change management Core Competencies Leadership and team management Effective communication and collaboration Time management and decision-making Commitment to continuous professional development Knowledge of HR policies and IT systems
