Getting to the Osprey: Free onsite parking for staff. Using public transport, the bus will leave you just a short walk away from the hotel. Using the train, you can hop on the feeder bus into Naas from the Sallins train station, which will leave you with just a short walk to the hotel.
The Role:
The successful candidate will teach and instruct groups and individuals in exercise activities, demonstrate techniques and methods of participation, observe participants, and inform them of corrective measures necessary to improve their skills.
Duties will include:
1. Carry out fitness assessments and body composition screenings.
2. Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations within the leisure centre.
3. Offer alternatives during classes to accommodate different levels of fitness.
4. Plan routines, choose appropriate music, and select different movements for each set of muscles, depending on participants' capabilities and limitations.
5. Observe participants and inform them of corrective measures necessary for skill improvement.
6. Instruct participants in maintaining exertion levels in order to maximize benefits from exercise routines.
7. Teach and demonstrate the use of training equipment such as weights.
8. Maintain fitness equipment.
9. Monitor participants' progress and adapt programs as needed.
10. Evaluate individuals' abilities, needs, and physical conditions, and develop suitable training programs to meet any special requirements.
11. Advise clients about proper clothing and shoes.
12. Promote health clubs through membership sales and record member information.
13. Perform reasonable ad hoc requests from management.
14. Enforce fitness centre policies and procedures.
15. Adhere to and execute the department’s normal operational plan. Maintain participation records.
16. Educate participants on proper and safe exercise form.
Requirements:
1. The ideal candidate will have ITEC, FETAC, or NCHES qualifications.
2. It is essential that they have the ability to teach a wide range of classes, including spinning, circuit, TRX, and step aerobics.
3. Previous fitness experience is essential.
4. Qualification in occupational first aid would be desirable.
5. They will have a natural ability to instruct and have a genuine desire to promote and provide excellent client care.
This is a part-time position; due to the nature of our business, this position will require you to work weekends, early mornings, and evenings.
