Built on our word.ROQ specialise in demolition, earthworks, utilities, drainage, road construction, site clearance, fencing, and civils packages for commercial, residential, and renewable energy projects.We are entering a period of strategic expansion and are strengthening our commercial team to support our varied and busy pipeline.The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take a leading role in the commercial management of our civil engineering projects nationwide. This is a senior position reporting directly to the Directors, involving both hands-on project commercial control and responsibility for pricing new contracts and tenders.The ideal candidate will combine strong commercial instincts with a solid understanding of current civil engineering market rates for labour, plant, materials, and subcontract packages. You will play a key part in shaping bid strategies, securing profitable work, and managing the financial performance of projects from tender stage through to final account.This role offers autonomy, influence, and the opportunity to work closely with an ambitious leadership team within a growing contractor.Key ResponsibilitiesCommercial ManagementManage all commercial aspects of projects from tender submission through to final accountPrepare, submit, and negotiate monthly valuations and applications for paymentOversee subcontract procurement, tender evaluations, and contract administrationAssess and agree subcontractor payments, variations, and final accountsPrepare accurate cost reports, cashflow forecasts, and commercial updates for DirectorsCost Control, Pricing & ReportingLead the pricing of tenders, budgets, and negotiated contractsMaintain up-to-date knowledge of market rates across civil engineering, including labour, plant and subcontract servicesPrepare, price, and agree variations and claimsAdvise Directors on bid decisions, margins, and commercial strategyMonitor project performance against budgets and identify areas for improvementProvide early warning on commercial, contractual, or programme risksClient & Contract AdministrationEnsure full compliance with contract terms (NEC, FIDIC, RIAI or similar)Represent ROQ at commercial meetings with clients, consultants, and subcontractorsSupport tendering activities, including measurement, BOQs, take-offs, and pricing inputsOn-site Support & Technical InputConduct regular site visits to assess progress, changes, and commercial risksWork closely with Project Managers and Engineers to improve buildability and efficiencyProvide guidance to ensure value is achieved throughout the delivery processWhat We're Looking ForMinimum 10 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor/Estimator in the civil engineering sectorStrong background in earthworks, utilities, drainage, demolition, and general civilsExperience across renewables, utilities, infrastructure, or commercial civils is an advantageProven experience pricing civil engineering projects and strong insight into market ratesDegree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or Civil EngineeringExcellent commercial judgment, negotiation skills, and attention to detailConfident operating independently and reporting directly to Director levelProficiency in Excel, measurement software, and industry reporting toolsFull driving licence (nationwide travel with some overnights required)What ROQ OffersMarket-leading salaryPension schemePerformance-based bonusCompany vehicle or allowanceLaptop, phone, and all required digital toolsPaid professional memberships (SCSI, RICS, etc.)Training and continuous professional development opportunitiesHybrid working: mix of HQ office, home working, and site visitsA senior role with influence on the commercial direction of a growing contractorOur CultureAt ROQ, you will be part of a team that prioritises:Autonomy and trust — senior staff are empowered to leadDirect communication and quick decision-makingCollaboration between commercial and operational teamsProfessional integrity and doing things the right wayContinuous improvement and embracing smarter ways of workingReal progression opportunities as the business continues to growJob Type: Full-timePay: €75,000.00-€90,000.00 per yearBenefits:Bike to work schemeCompany carCompany pensionOn-site parkingSick payWork from homeWork Location: Hybrid remote in Castlerea, County Roscommon
